Help! Molly's 1944 swimsuit!

I'm thinking about getting this as a present for my mom, but I have some questions...is it more just a dress or does it have some sort of swimsuit underneath? Also, what kind of fabric is it made out of?

Suit is a one piece w/attached panty. Fabric is kind of cottony. Word of warning though--the sunglasses aren't very sturdy & care needs to be taken putting them on Molly. Opening the bows too far will break them. The shell necklace has a magnet closure & it opens like a book. Pull on it & the strings come out because the magnet is strong. If you watch QVC, it's like their necklaces with magnet closures so if you've seen those you know what I mean. Really a cute set & the green print towel is nice & thick thirsty terry. It does look alot like a sundress but it has built-in panties. The accessories are great. I hope this helps.
